To make this dish dairy free, omit the cheese and use a different dressing.


Lamb Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 tbsp cilantro
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp coriander
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Gyro Bowl:

  • 5 oz. arugula
  • 1 c. grape tomatoes, halved
  • 4 oz. feta or goat cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 cucumber, sliced
  • 1 c. kalamata olives

Lemon Cumin Yogurt Dressing:

  • 1/2 c. full fat Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp cumin


  1. Preheat oven to 400’.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the 1 lb ground lamb with 1 tbsp cilantro, 1 egg, 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp coriander, and 1/2 tsp salt until well blended.
  3. Roll into golf ball sized meatballs and place on a baking sheet.
  4. Cook for about 20 minutes, or until cooked through.
  5. Prepare the dressing by combining the 1/2 c. yogurt, 2 tbsp lemon juice, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1 tbsp cumin.
  6. Prepare the gyro bowls: Divide the arugula, tomatoes, cheese, cucumber, and olives between four bowls.
  7. Top with meatballs and serve with the yogurt dressing.
